Health: Promotion, Prevention and Precision Medicine
The increased prevalence of chronic disease, including those that are preventable, is motivating the research community to push the boundaries of health care as it stands. The challenges involve the need to explore new practices and implement significant changes in the traditional health fields.
OBJECTIVE: Foster personalized and interdisciplinary approaches in the implementation of programs, services, and policies to maintain people’s health.
At the Université de Sherbrooke (UdeS), we want to contribute to making the health system more integrated, more attentive, and better adapted to the needs of individuals, families, and communities. To this end, we create opportunities to bring together various disciplines and this multidisciplinarity often opens the way to captivating perspectives.
Our groups of researchers, research centres, and theme-based networks lead to meetings between experts from various disciplines: Social work, fundamental science, psychology, engineering, IT, physical activity, politics, and more. These people come together to collaborate in targeted fields—cancer, aging, genetics, rehabilitation, etc.—working tirelessly to develop innovative processes in their respective fields of expertise. This rather unique combination of strengths has already resulted in scientific breakthroughs with concrete applications for the public.
