Canada Research Chair in Social Participation and Connection for Older Adults
To age well, older adults need more than just physical health — they need ongoing opportunities for socializing. But what are the most effective ways to offer these? As Canada Research Chair in Social Participation and Connection for Older Adults, Professor Mélanie Levasseur aims to provide community organizations, health professionals and municipalities with effective strategies they can use to support older adults’ health and social participation.
She and her research team are evaluating a continuum of strategies at both the individual and population level. Designed with a health promotion approach, the aim of the continuum is to increase personal and collective well-being by developing factors and conditions that are conducive to health, not just the absence of disease.
