Canada Research Chair in Process Intensification for Advanced Catalysts and Sustainable Energy
Our society’s growing use of energy is generating quantities of greenhouse gases (GHGs) at a level that is not sustainable. Although scientists have studied how to capture and convert these gases into value-added products, current conversion technologies aren’t always energy efficient and often suffer from other technical challenges.
As Canada Research Chair in Process Intensification for Advanced Catalysts and Sustainable Energy, Professor Ines Esma Achouri is developing techniques to reduce GHGs and increase the energy efficiency of conversion technologies. Using a multidisciplinary approach, she and her research team are designing multifunctional catalysts from waste and sustainable source materials and using hybrid reactors to produce renewable energy vectors. They are also developing innovative techniques to produce materials and renewable energy using alternative energy sources.
