Canada Research Chair in Organic and Hybrid Advanced Materials
Materials play a central role in our society. However, they are not always produced or used in a sustainable manner. Professor Jerome Claverie, Canada Research Chair in Organic and Hybrid Advanced Materials, is developing new methods to produce these types of materials more sustainably.
Professor Claverie and his research team intend to develop new bio-sourced polymers (which are produced entirely or mainly from biologically sourced materials) and to design innovative depolymerization techniques. In so doing, they hope to reduce the carbon footprint left by organic materials - most of which are still derived from petroleum resources - and to offer closed-loop recycling avenues that, in theory, could enable the infinite reuse of polymer materials.
Main Objective of the Research Program
Preparing new materials for energy and environmental applications.
