Marie-Claude Geoffroy
Marie-Claude Geoffroy is a clinical psychologist and assistant professor in school and applied child psychology at McGill University since 2018 and a researcher at the Douglas Mental Health University Institute.
She has received numerous awards for her research, including a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Youth Mental Health and Suicide Prevention. Her research is currently supported by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Ministère de la Santé et de Services Sociaux du Québec and private foundations. Dr Geoffroy co-directs a research platform for the Quebec Network on Suicide, Mood and Related Disorders and leads the McGill division of the Groupe de recherche sur l'inadaptation psychosociale de l'enfant.
She and her research team use large epidemiological samples from around Quebec, Canada, the United Kingdom and Korea to better understand what puts youth at risk for suicide. She also conducts randomized controlled trials to test the effectiveness of psychosocial interventions to promote better mental health.
Her work has resulted in numerous publications in prestigious scientific journals including JAMA Pschiatry, Lancet Psychiatry, Psychological Medicine. She advises governmental and non-governmental organizations on suicide prevention.
