Differentiate the different kinds of intellectual property (IP) and understand the concepts of IP protection in order to choose the best strategy to protect an innovation, as well as any other intellectual asset.

Patentable subject matter, patentability criteria (validity), process for obtaining a patent and pitfalls to avoid, infringement (litigation), co-ownership and transfer (assignment, license), other forms of IP (copyrights, trademarks, industrial designs, trade secrets) and introduction to managing an IP portfolio.
