Statistics Canada | Text classification with QML

Statistics Canada collects real-time data from major retailers on a variety of products to calculate certain metrics such as the Consumer Price Index. This textual data must be classified according to an international standard of product codes, a difficult task that requires significant computing resources.

The project focused on how Quantum machine learning (QML) could improve the performance of this type of text classification.
