Although Institut quantique is located in Quebec, where French is the official language, non-French speakers will find that language is no barrier to their integration into our community. With a diverse international presence and the global nature of the research conducted at IQ, English is commonly used alongside French. This bilingual environment enables all members, whatever their mother tongue, to participate fully in IQ's activities and research.
However, learning French will greatly facilitate academic learning, as well as social interaction and integration outside IQ, particularly in the local community. That's why we encourage non-French speakers to take advantage of opportunities to learn French. Find out more about the French courses available in Sherbrooke and the language initiatives offered at IQ to support linguistic integration.
Language courses at UdeS
The Université de Sherbrooke (UdeS) offers a variety of language courses, including several programs specifically designed for non-French speakers wishing to learn or improve their French. These courses cater for all levels, from beginner to advanced, and enable non-French speaker students and researchers to better integrate into the local community. Programs include intensive courses, conversation workshops and cultural activities, offering a comprehensive approach to learning French.
By taking these courses, Institut quantique members can not only strengthen their language skills, but also facilitate their integration into Sherbrooke's social and professional life. You'll find more details on these training offers in the section dedicated to UdeS language resources.
