Research

Research at the Quantum Institute is at the cutting edge of quantum science and technology, combining the exploration of new theories with the development of next-generation technological tools. By combining expertise in quantum information, quantum materials and quantum engineering, IQ researchers are pushing back the frontiers of knowledge while contributing to the emergence of revolutionary technologies, such as quantum computers and the exploration of new materials and ultra-precise sensors.

The impact of this research is not limited to scientific discoveries, but extends to concrete applications with the potential to transform sectors such as medicine, energy and communications. IQ is also committed to addressing societal and environmental challenges, with an emphasis on responsible and ethical science.

By cultivating an interdisciplinary, collaborative and inclusive approach, IQ aspires to build a future where quantum technologies have a positive, sustainable and equitable impact for society and the planet.

Research axis

Research at the institut quantique is organized around four complementary research axes covering a wide range of disciplines and applications.

  • The Quantum Information axis explores the theoretical and experimental foundations of quantum systems to develop technologies such as quantum computers and sensors.
  • The Quantum Materials axis focuses on the study of the emerging properties of exotic materials, essential for the fabrication of tomorrow's quantum devices.
  • Quantum Engineering is concerned with integrating these discoveries into practical technologies, by developing the devices and systems needed to translate theory into concrete applications.
  • Finally, Quantum accomplices, from disciplines such as management, finance, biology or the humanities, help to broaden the scope of quantum technologies, by posing ethical questions and exploring the uses of quantum technologies in their respective fields.
