Ph.D.

The doctorate is a postgraduate program focused on conducting a research project leading to the production of a thesis. The doctorate is offered in four disciplines: chemical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering.

Admission

Candidates who have completed a bachelor's degree or a master's degree at the Faculty of Engineering of the Université de Sherbrooke

Regular admission

  • Master’s degree in engineering (M. Sc. A. or M. Ing.) from the University of Sherbrooke. For candidates who are in the process of obtaining their degree, the master’s program must be completed before in the first term in the doctorate at the latest.
  • Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average of 3 out of 4.3.
  • Relevant research experience.
  • Supervising agreement with a professor.

Fast track admission

  • Candidates must be registered in the thesis-based master’s program at the Faculty of Engineering.
  • Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average of 3 out of 4.3.
  • The following courses must be completed : SCA715, SCA702, Gxx726, SCA701, Gxx727 and 15 crédits of option and elective courses.
  • The project must be a continuation of the master’s project and the supervisor(s) must remain the same.

All applications must be approved by the admission committee for an official admission offer to be made.

  • Pay the admission fee
  • Submit all required documents

  • Presentation letter (statement of interest)
  • Résumé (CV)
  • One recommendation form from a professor. The document must be sent by the professor to info2cycle.genie@usherbrooke.ca. The reference cannot be the supervisor (or cosupervisor) for the doctorate.

Applications are reviewed after all required documents have been received.

Applications are only submitted for review once the admission file is complete, and an admission offer is only made once all members of the committee have approved the application. A project offer from a professor is not sufficient on its own for an official admission offer.
