Step 4 - Itinerary

Deadline for submitting your itinerary (round-trip): April 20, 2026

To help us organize your travel to the Summer School, please submit your travel itinerary by April 20, 2026.

Your itinerary must include the following information:

Transportation to Montreal (if applicable)

  •    Your mode of transportation to Montreal
  • If you are traveling by plane:
    • City of departure
    • Airline
    • Flight numbers
    • Scheduled departure and arrival times

Transportation to Sherbrooke (if applicable)

  • Planned mode of transportation (bus, train, car, carpool, etc.)
  • Transportation company (if applicable)
  • Scheduled departure and arrival times

Contact information and additional details

  • Phone number where you can be reached in case of an emergency (if you did not include it on the registration form)
  • Any relevant information (possible delays, special needs, etc.)

To help us coordinate your travel arrangements for the Summer School, please submit your itinerary by April 20, 2026, at the latest, to the following email address: ecole.iq@USherbrooke.ca.

Remarks

  • The Summer School’s academic program will begin on the morning of June 8, 2026. We therefore strongly recommend that you arrive the day before, on June 7, 2026. Accommodations at Bishop’s University will be provided starting June 7, 2026, and a meal will be served upon your arrival that evening.
  • To ensure a smooth transfer between Montreal and Sherbrooke, we encourage you to check the schedule for the last bus departure before booking your flight. This precaution will help you avoid any prolonged wait in Montreal and ensure you arrive in time for the start of the School.

Travel Recommendations

People traveling to Canada must apply for either a temporary resident visa (TRV) or an electronic travel authorization (eTA), but not both.

We strongly encourage all participants who need a visa to enter Canada to submit their application as soon as possible. To find out whether you need a temporary resident visa or an Electronic Travel Authorization, please visit the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website.

If you need an entry visa

Participants who need a visa to enter Canada should apply as soon as possible. They may also request (ecole.iq@USherbrooke.ca) a personalized letter of support to include with their application.

Be sure to submit your application as soon as possible, and no later than eight weeks before your arrival date, to allow for sufficient processing time.

With a few exceptions, most visa applicants must provide their biometric data (fingerprints and photo).

The following are exempt from providing biometric data:

How do I apply for a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV)?

To facilitate the visa issuance process, the Summer School will provide a letter of invitation (upon request, at ecole.iq@USherbrooke.ca) to registered participants. This letter is required for your online TRV application.

Unless exempt, the TRV application must be submitted online. We recommend following these steps:

If you are required to provide biometric data, you must visit the nearest visa application center to provide it in person after receiving a Biometric Instructions Letter (BIL). You cannot schedule an appointment until you have received this letter. Your visa application will not be processed without the required biometric data.

Please note that you will not be able to board your flight to Canada without a valid visa, and it is not possible to obtain a visa upon arrival in Canada.

If you need an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA)

Visa-exempt foreign nationals traveling to or transiting through Canada by air must obtain an eTA. The application is completed online and takes only a few minutes.

The eTA is valid for five years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first. The fee is CAD 7.

We encourage you to apply for your eTA well in advance of your departure.

Please note that you must obtain your eTA before you can board your flight to Canada.

Sherbrooke is about a 1.5-hour drive from Montreal, assuming no traffic. There is a bus service from Montreal, but no train service. To help you plan your trip efficiently, here are some useful resources for traveling between Sherbrooke and Montreal.

Please note that we strongly encourage you to use public transportation to reduce your environmental impact.

From Montreal Airport

  • The easiest and most affordable way to get to Sherbrooke is to take the 747 bus to the Montreal bus station (Gare d’autocars), then follow the instructions from there (see below).
  • Aeroshuttle is a shuttle service specializing in transportation between Sherbrooke, Magog/Orford, Bromont, Granby, L’Ange-Gardien, Richelieu and Montreal’s Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport. The shuttle is available at all times (24 hours a day, 365 days a year) and adapts to your flight schedules to take you directly to your hotel. The cost is $125 for a one-way trip or $175 for a round trip.
  • Taxi Navette offers transfer services to and from the airport, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Car rental: Several options are available. Please note that this option is less environmentally friendly and is not recommended.

From Montreal Bus Station (Gare d’autocars)

  • Limocar is an intercity bus service operated by Transdev Canada, offering fast, reliable, and punctual transportation. The fare to the Sherbrooke terminal is $50.05 (or $42.54 for students) for a one-way ticket, and $90.10 (or $76.58 for students) for a round-trip ticket.

Note: Local buses cost $4 in cash.

Long-distance carpooling

  • Kangaride is a long-distance carpooling service that connects drivers and passengers traveling between different cities.

With several of the options listed above, you will arrive at the Sherbrooke bus station. From there, you can take a local bus—for $4—to Bishop’s University.

Bishop’s University is located at 2600 College Street in Sherbrooke.
