How to Apply – Teaching Applicant

The three-step admission process below applies to you if you are currently teaching your trade.

Step 1 — Applying

To submit your application, you will need to:
Create your account and submit your admission application

Before clicking on the “I want to apply” green button, please take note of the following:

  • the BVE program code: 250 001;
  • your permanent code or UdeS CIP, if you already have one.

Once you access the online form, you will first be asked to identify yourself by creating an account.

Pay the application and processing fees

Immediately after confirming the submission of your online admission form, you must pay the application and processing fees.

Your application will be processed only once payment has been received. 

Upload the required document

Upload the following document in electronic format: 

  • Your birth certificate or proof of citizenship (baptismal certificates are not accepted).

After submitting your application, return to this page to move on to Step 2 and send the additional required documents.

Step 2 - Sending the additional required documents to the BVE

Make sure to include your admission application file number or your CIP (personal identification code) in your message.

Required Documents
  • Employment Attestation from your Vocational Training Centre

    This letter must indicate your status as a teacher and the program in which you teach (e.g., Information Technology Support).

  • Diploma (related to your teaching sector)

    The diploma must be directly related to your teaching sector (e.g., DEP, DEC, or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science).

  • Official Transcript

    It must confirm that the program is completed and that the diploma has been awarded.

  • Proof of 3,000 hours of experience in the practice or teaching of your trade.

    Examples of acceptable proof include: Letters from former employers indicating the position held and the number of hours accumulated, a CCQ time sheet (if applicable), a CCQ competency card (journeyperson) (if applicable).

    You own your business, or the companies you worked for no longer exist? Write a letter indicating the name of the business, the hours worked, and the trade practiced, then have it authenticated by a Commissioner for Oaths.

Optional Documents
  • Letter of tolerance (if applicable);
  • Additional diplomas and achievement records.

    Save time and earn credits! Submit all relevant diplomas to receive credit through our recognition of prior academic learning process. 

Step 3 - Tracking my application

Processing your admission application takes approximately two to four weeks.

You will then receive the admission decision. You must accept or decline the offer by following the instructions included with the decision.

Good news — your application is accepted! What happens next?

After accepting the admission offer, you will need to have your practicum placement site confirmed.
