Studying at 3IT means being around unique members with a variety of expertise! Take a journey to the heart of the institute through student testimonials and discover the motto that inspires some of our members on a daily basis.

Working in teams to advance science

Thierno Mamoudou Diallo came to 3IT to push the boundaries of science and technology. During his thesis, he had access to state-of-the-art equipment and was able to interact with colleagues from all over the world. In this cross-cultural and stimulating environment, he developed an innovative process that can be used on solar cells.

Producing robots to serve humans

Come meet Catherine Véronneau, project manager of Exonetics, founded at the 3IT. As part of her graduate studies, Catherine carried out a stimulating project in mechanical design under the leadership of her professor, Jean-Sébastien Plante, and in collaboration with a team of young specialists in various fields. The mission? To create a robot capable of performing physical tasks in synergy with humans. Catherine talks about her experience at the 3IT where mutual assistance and innovation are omnipresent.

Delving into your passion

Jonathan Audet is a master’s student in mechanical engineering. In his daily life at the 3IT, he gets the opportunity to blend his love for skiing with his passion for engineering and entrepreneurship. His research project involves analyzing the geometric and mechanical properties of alpine skis in order to provide sound guidance to consumers looking to purchase skis. Under the direction of Professor Alexis Lussier Desbiens, Jonathan Audet collaborates with the Createk laboratory team to advance his research project.

From research to entrepreneurship

Mahmood Shirazy explains how he went from a Ph.D. student at the 3IT to co-founder and CEO of Calogy Solutions. Under the supervision of Professor Luc Fréchette, he developed expertise in thermal management for electric vehicles. The 3IT’s innovative environment and the support of his peers helped him accomplish a dream: bringing his innovation to market and becoming an entrepreneur.

An environment that makes a difference

Professor Gwenaëlle Hamon came to the 3IT as part of her post-doctorate to work on a high-efficiency solar cell project.  She quickly felt free to take initiative while getting involved in the 3IT community. The friendly culture and international environment of the 3IT charmed her. She strongly encourages other students and researchers to come learn in this motivating environment.
