Intérêts de recherche

I am interested in developing and applying chemical methods to advance our knowledge about the presence, transformation and effects of trace organic contaminants (TrOCs) in natural waters and sediments. Thus, the three axes of my research are: 1) occurrence: development of suspect screening methods to detect new TrOCs; 2) fate: identification and elucidation of the structure of stable transformation products of TrOCs and 3) toxicity: development of metabolic toxicity bioassays able to determine subtle harmful effects of mixtures of trace concentrations of EOCs to model species. These research axes are both key and complementary aspects of environmental contamination that put together lead to a better understanding of the significance of the presence of TrOCs in the environment.

Activités de collaboration internationale

  • Project leader. (2013-2014). Canada. I led a project in collaboration with Professor Hideshige Takada of the University of Agriculture and Technology in Fuchu, Tokyo, Japan and other colleagues in Canada, Kenya, Ghana and South Africa. This project studied the relationship between income inequalities and concentrations of anti-infectives in surface waters in several countries. A paper resuming our findings was published in 2015 in Environment International.
