Activités de collaboration internationale

  • Collaborator, Dept. of Beam Materials Science, Inst. of Scient. & Indust. Res., Osaka Univ., Osaka. Japan. This strong collaboration is with Prof. Y. Muroya, former research associate of Prof. Y. Katsumura at the Univ. of Tokyo. Dr. Muroya visited us in Sherbrooke seven times since 2001. We have more than twenty publications in common jointly with Prof. Y. Katsumura. He is now a professor at the Univ. of Osaka. This collaboration is based on various subjects centered on fast kinetics (picosecond electron pulse radiolysis and femtosecond laser flash photolysis) and on the development of experiment-and-theory based models in the radiolysis of water and aqueous systems. More recently, we have collaborated intensely on the radiolysis of water at elevated temperature and in the supercritical regime.
  • Collaborator, Dept. of Nuclear Engineering & Management, Univ. of Tokyo, Tokyo and Tokai, Ibaraki. Japan. Collaboration with Prof. Y. Katsumura (Univ. of Tokyo and JAEA, Tokai, and more recently Japan Radioisotope Assoc.) in Japan centered on many aspects of basic and applied radiation chemistry, including the radiolysis of supercritical water. This group has a picosecond time-resolved pulsed electron radiolysis facility. It also has full access to the irradiation facilities with accelerated heavy ions of Chiba. We have more than twenty joint publications with this laboratory since 2002. Prof. Katsumura is now an Emeritus Professor at the Univ. of Tokyo.
  • Collaborator, NYU Grossman School of Medicine, New York, NY, USA. United States of America. Strong collaboration with Dr. Nicholas W. Colangelo (NYU Grossman School of Medicine, New York, NY) centered on many aspects of basic and applied radiobiology, including the radiolysis of water by energetic carbon ions under very high dose rate irradiations and the FLASH effect in radiation therapy.
  • Collaborator, Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences, New Jersey Medical School, Newark, New Jersey. United States of America. I have a long-standing collaboration with Prof. Edouard Azzam whose research is focussed on understanding the molecular and cellular mechanisms of the targeted and non-targeted effects of ionizing radiations on normal and cancerous human cells/tissus. Prof. Azzam was a postdoctoral fellow in Prof. John B. Little's laboratory at Harvard School of Public Health. We published seven joint articles, the last one in Dec. 2020. Our main interaction is at the physicochemical/chemical-biochemical/biological interfaces of radiation action. Prof. Azzam recently moved to the Canadian Nuclear Laboratories, Chalk River, ON, where he is now Head of the Radiobiology and Health Branch. Our collaboration continues on bystander and FLASH effects in radiobiology.
  • Adjunct Professor, Kasetsart University, Bangkok, Thailand. Thailand. As an adjunct professor in the Faculty of Science, Dept. of Applied Radiation and Isotopes, Kasetsart University in Bangkok, Thailand, I gave lectures in radiation and free radical chemistry as well as in fundamental radiobiology. I recruited a number of graduate students from this department to join our laboratory in Sherbrooke as M.Sc. or Ph.D. students, or yet for research training. A former Ph.D. student of mine (Dr. Ridthee Meesat, March 2012) is currently head of this department.
  • Collaborator, National Atomic Energy Agency, Jakarta, Indonesia. Indonesia. Research collaboration with the group of Dr. Geni R. Sunaryo in the National Atomic Energy Agency (BATAN) in Jakarta, Indonesia. This collaboration started with the post-doctoral training of Dr. Sunaryo in our laboratory in 2005. Her subject was centered on the Monte Carlo simulation of the radiolysis of water by fast neutrons at elevated temperatures. This subject was continued by Sofia Loren Butarbutar, a member of Dr. Sunaryo's team, for a M.Sc. degree in our laboratory in Sherbrooke (Sept. 2014). We published ten joint papers during the period 2005-2017.
