In a context of global warming and increasing energy needs in the world, the energy transition is a complex challenge. Fossil fuels are important sources that cover 80% of global energy needs. Therefore, this section of our research is concerned with finding sustainable alternatives to fossil fuels and petroleum-derived chemicals by:
- The development of innovative and effective catalysts from mine tailings, waste or biosources
- Sustainable production of biofuels, energy carriers and platform molecules
- The development of new processes with high energy efficiency
