History

On May 18, 2018, Sir Craig Reddie, then president of the World Anti-Doping Agency, in a speech to the Montreal Council on Foreign Relations, called for more collaboration between Quebec and WADA and hoped for the creation of university research chairs.

In the wake of this call, Professor David Pavot and the University of Sherbrooke decided to answer this call as did other universities.

In May 2019, the Agency's Foundation Board decided to support the creation of a multidisciplinary research chair at the University of Sherbrooke's Business School Longueuil Campus.

The AMA provided the necessary impetus for the creation of the Chair through its moral and financial support (US $1,000,000 over five years). The Université de Sherbrooke also supports the Chair, matching the amount invested by IYA.

The work of the Chair was officially launched on August 1, 2019, and the Chair was officially unveiled at a ceremony held at AMA headquarters on February 11, 2020.
