Jesse Fafard Théorêt

Coordinator of the Research Chair on Anti-Doping in Sport

Jesse Fafard Théorêt is the coordinator of the Research Chair on Anti-Doping in Sport and a student in the Bachelor of Laws program at the Université de Sherbrooke. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Applied Political Studies with a major in Law (B.A.) and a Master's degree in Law (LL.M.) in Applied International Law and Politics (DIPIA) from the Université de Sherbrooke. He is a student researcher at the Chair since April 2021. As part of his team, he won the 2021 edition of the Jacques-Yvan-Morin Essay Competition in International Law for an article entitled "Legal Engineering for Environmental Protection: The Case of the United States and the European Court of Human Rights".

Jesse is interested in the geopolitical dynamics that are transposed into the fight against sports doping. As such, he has worked with Professor David Pavot on the effects of the US Rodchenkov Act, which criminalizes the entourage of an athlete when they promote or encourage the doping of that athlete. He is a Mitacs Acceleration Fellow in a research project on doping substances, which is a partnership between the Chair and the World Anti-Doping Agency.

Jesse also has research experience in comparative administrative and constitutional law acquired with Geneviève Cartier, a full professor at the Université de Sherbrooke's Faculty of Law.

Finally, he is involved as a producer and in charge of special projects at CFAK 88.3 FM university radio; and as an editor at the Laboratoire pour la recherche critique en droit of the Université de Sherbrooke's Faculty of Law.
