The Pharmacology Institute of Sherbrooke (IPS) is an interdisciplinary endeavour focused on the validation of new targets and the development of molecules of therapeutic and diagnostic interest. It is also a team of researchers and students who combine their expertise on a daily basis to advance knowledge and use these advances to create new products and new methodologies in the fields of diagnostics and drugs. With the arrival of a new management team in the summer of 2013, several projects were initiated:
  • The sustained development of links with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, through which researchers either advance their discoveries or enhance their leading-edge expertise. It is of note that research contracts for members of the IPS totalled $1.2 million in 2010, and then $2.4 million in 2013;
  • The positioning of laboratories to increase the degree of interdisciplinary interaction and the functionality of the building;
  • Strengthening the Institute's leadership at the local and provincial levels, notably through the development of relationships with local companies and partners.
These actions aim to position the IPS, not only as a scientific actor, but also as a promoter of interdisciplinary research in pharmacology in Sherbrooke and beyond our Estrie regional borders. This constitutes an added value of the Institute for its members, as well as their Faculties.
