Research

Department staff frequently publish their research results in influential medical publications. They also have more than 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals to their credit in the past 5 years, in addition to many book chapters. Current research interests include:

  • Control and rational use of antibiotics
  • Clinical epidemiology of Clostridium difficile
  • Nosocomial bacteremia and endocarditis
  • Quinolone- and aminoglycoside-resistant E. coli infections
  • Origins of HIV and genetic factors influencing its transmission
  • Epidemiology of sexually transmitted infections and their role in the transmission of HIV
  • Molecular epidemiology of Campylobacter jejuni infection
