Research
Department staff frequently publish their research results in influential medical publications. They also have more than 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals to their credit in the past 5 years, in addition to many book chapters. Current research interests include:
- Control and rational use of antibiotics
- Clinical epidemiology of Clostridium difficile
- Nosocomial bacteremia and endocarditis
- Quinolone- and aminoglycoside-resistant E. coli infections
- Origins of HIV and genetic factors influencing its transmission
- Epidemiology of sexually transmitted infections and their role in the transmission of HIV
- Molecular epidemiology of Campylobacter jejuni infection
