Lockheed Martin | Scaling up quantum optimization applications using NISQ systems

October 2021 - October 2022

Current quantum algorithms use the circuit level of abstraction, while quantum hardware uses electrical pulses to perform quantum operations on qubits.

By studying the physics of quantum systems, the project explored the possibility of producing pulses more efficiently to perform the same quantum operations.

The project demonstrated an improvement in quantum gate duration of up to 73%, which allows for optimization of deeper circuits and increased QAOA performance on IBM quantum processors.
