Geomatics Department | QML applied to geospatial data

December 2022 - September 2024

The field of geomatics presents a wide variety of data, both in terms of format (vectors, points, images) and modality (optical multi- and hyper-spectral, SAR, LiDAR, etc).

The massive volume of these data and the need to use increasingly complex algorithms, which are very demanding in terms of processing time, greatly limit their use in large-scale dynamic mapping operations.

This project aims to explore the use of a quantum infrastructure for different types of data and applications in geomatics. The main objective is to identify standard geomatics data science processes that could benefit from being implementated in a quantum infrastructure, as well as the gains over the use of classical computing.
