Bank of Canada | Quantum optimization of the banknote distribution system

The Bank of Canada explored how some quantum algorithms could improve its distribution system. In particular, the Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm (QAOA) has been used in conjunction with a trajectory-based approach inspired by quantum annealing methods to solve clustering and travelling salesman problems.

The project implications could find applications in supply chains and other socio-economic challenges.
