Summer School in Biodiversity Modelling

From August 18th to 23rd, Orford Musique, Orford (Quebec) 

This summer school will give you the opportunity to further your knowledge of biodiversity modelling in an unformal and friendly atmosphere. 

Objectives

By the end of this course, the student will:

  • Be able to use different biodiversity modelling techniques (statistics, differential equations, stochastic simulations)
  • Be able to use outputs of climate change models for biodiversity modelling
  • Be able to devise various biodiversity scenarios based on the analysis of empirical data
  • Have developed critical thinking about the methods used in different biodiversity scenarios
  • Be able to evaluate the source of uncertainty in predictions of biodiversity

Prerequisites

To follow this course, intermediate knowledge of scientific programming is required.

It is mandatory to bring a laptop.

Fees

The rate is $ 500 (taxes included) to attend the Summer School. It includes all meals and snacks as well as lodging for the full duration of the course (from August 18th P.M. to August 23rd P.M). Accomodation will be in double bedrooms with two twin beds and a a private bathroom.

Please note that travel expenses are borne by the participants. 

Scholarships offered by the BIOS2 program are available to cover some of the costs of the Summer School. Bios2 fellows can use their mobility grant to reimburse their travel costs. For more information, contact Ecole.Biologie@USherbrooke.ca.
