Ms. De Pirro joined the U.S. Foreign Service in October, 1983. She assumed her position as director of Canadian Affairs in May 2010. During her time in the Foreign Service she has been assigned to Jamaica, Colombia, Costa Rica, Italy, Mexico, Bosnia, and Geneva as political counselor at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations. Ms. De Pirro has also had a number of assignments in Washington, including Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary for Western Hemisphere Affairs, Deputy Director of Canadian Affairs, Political Officer in the Office of Cuban Affairs and most recently Director of the Office of Caribbean Affairs. She is the recipient of a number of State Department awards.
Ms. De Pirro is fluent in Spanish and has working knowledge of Italian and some French.
