This program is intended to allow new teachers to:
- Gain perspective on the professional act of teaching;
- Develop an ability to translate their disciplinary knowledge into knowledge to be taught in the classroom;
- Develop competencies in planning, conducting and evaluating student learning;
- Develop the behaviour and thought patterns characteristic of a reflective and critical approach to solving teaching problems.
Even though these objectives and standards are spelled out in master plans, the courses themselves are taught in each of the colleges and are adapted to local needs. Their pedagogical formula has been developed in order to incorporate the personal dimension of professional development and local dimension of institutional integration. They can be taken on site, online or in a combination of both formats depending on client need and instructor interest.
