For high schools
Duration 1 hour per group
Dive into the fascinating world of quantum sciences! Each workshop puts your students in contact with this little-known science through interactive activities. You can choose between the two following themes.
Light as you've never seen it before!
Did you know that you can see quantum phenomena with your naked eyes? Light is an excellent model for demonstrating and understanding them!
Topics covered: definition of quantum, polarization of light and birefringence.
Journey into the quantum world
Take a trip into the quantum sciences world by discovering superconducting materials, an important area of research that helps explain quantum levitation.
Topics covered: history and definition of quantum science, magnetism and superconducting materials.
For cégeps and colleges
Duration 2-3 hours per group
Three workshops are available to introduce your students to a problem-solving approach using quantum computing.
Introduction to quantum computing 1
Take your first steps in quantum computing! The workshop includes hands-on exercises on a quantum computer.
Topics covered: classical vs. quantum computing, qubits and quantum logic gates.
Introduction to quantum computing 2
Continue your exploration of quantum computing with Quantum Enigmas.
Topics covered: presentation of current research, Dirac notation, solving and quantum advantage.
Linear algebra transforms qubits
Integrate notions of vectors and matrices and their applications to quantum programming.
Topics covered: one- and two-qubit systems in vector form, expressing a quantum circuit in matrix form.
