IBM Q Hub at Institut quantique

Preparing for quantum

Quantum’s potential to solve complex problems that exceed the computing capacity of conventional supercomputers, shows great promise in several fields, notably in biochemistry, finance, logistics and artificial intelligence. While it is difficult to predict the impact that quantum computing will have on our world, developing one’s expertise to seize tomorrow’s emerging opportunities will be essential for businesses. Quantum advantage will belong to those who position themselves today.

The Université de Sherbrooke has joined IBM Q Network as an IBM Q Hub at Institut quantique (IQ), the first of its kind in Canada. Our IBM Q Hub offers academic and industrial members exclusive cloud-based access to IBM’s quantum computing systems and software, including a 53-qubit system, currently the largest universal one available in the industry.

A WORLD-CLASS RESEARCH TOOL

Our IBM Q Hub members have exclusive cloud-based access to IBM’s most advanced quantum computer systems and software, including a 53 qubit system, currently the largest universal one available in the industry. Using IBM’s Qiskit software, users can run their programs intuitively to explore the possibilities of quantum computing. Depending on the agreement, our Hub members can have a dedicated research chair and benefit from a full team of researchers as well as a longer-term commitment.

A COMMUNITY OF EXPERTS

Beyond technology, there is talent. The IBM Q Hub at l’Institut quantique is an opportunity to take part in a community of experts and to have access to the quantum expertise of our IQ members. It is also an opportunity to expand your network through events organized by IQ and the IBM Q Network.

CONTINUOUS TRAINING

Our IBM Q Hub members can collaborate in working groups within the IBM Q Network and exchange best practices. They also have access to IBM Quantum workshops including on the open source software Qiskit and IQ training in quantum computing.

FAQ

WHAT IS AN IBM Q Hub?

IBM Q Hubs are regional centers of quantum computing education, research, development, and implementation that provide collaborators cloud access to IBM quantum technology.

WHAT IS THE IBM Q NETWORK?

The IBM Q Network is a global network of companies, academic institutions, start-ups and research labs that work with IBM to advance quantum computing. Learn more about IBM Q Network

WHAT IS QISKIT SOFTWARE?

Qiskit is an open source quantum computing software development framework that serves as an interface for programming quantum experiments and applications on IBM Quantum systems. Learn more about Qiskit

WHAT SYSTEMS DOES IBM Q HUB GIVE YOU ACCESS TO?

As a member of our IBM Q Hub, your research team is entitled to its own exclusive programming slot, which provides access to 18 of IBM’s most advanced quantum computing systems, including a 53-qubit IBM Quantum system, currently the largest universal system available.

WHAT ARE THE TYPES OF ACCESS WITHIN OUR IBM Q HUB?

We offer different types of access depending on the needs of your research team. Our approach is based on scientific collaboration with the technical support of programmers and can range from a post doctorate to a research chair depending on your commitment.
