Research expertise and domains

  • Electric vehicles, batteries, supercapacitors, powertrain development
  • Modelling and control of multi-input electrical systems with coupled dynamics (Multi-actuated systems, Multi-source electrical systems, …);
  • Development of generalized real-time energy management strategy using hierarchical approach and metaheuristics implementation;
  • Modelling and control of electric vehicles using Energetic Macroscopic Representation;
  • Multi-sources energy management definitions (Rule-based and Fuzzy logic controller);
  • DSP/FPGA real-time simulation and control of multi-input electrical systems with coupled dynamics. Application to reduced-scale laboratory test benches (HIL approach);
  • Electromechanical Drive Systems: Design and motion control strategies development.

Research activities

Energy storage capacity and driving range are major concerns in Electric Vehicles. The main objective of my research activities is to address these challenges by:

  • developing a reliable energy storage system that exploits the advantages of multiple energy sources that have either high specific energy or high specific power;
  • designing improved power converters and electric motors, and;
  • developing an optimized energy and power management system.
