Pr. Eric Goulet, Ph.D.

Puisque lui-même triathlète de longue distance depuis plus de 20 ans, les travaux de recherche du Pr. Goulet tentent, dans la mesure du possible, de faire le pont entre la science acquise en laboratoire et son utilisation concrète sur le terrain. À cette fin, les recherches du Pr. Goulet ont pour but de répondre à des problématiques de terrain tangibles et significatives et à offrir des pistes de solutions pouvant être utilisées par les athlètes, entraîneurs et professionnels de la santé.  

Présentation du laboratoire

Établi en 2010, le laboratoire de recherche du Pr. Goulet s’intéresse depuis les dernières années à étudier et comprendre :

  • L’impact de l’hypohydratation sur l’équilibre hydrique, les fonctions physiologiques et la performance en endurance ou la capacité d’endurance;
  • L’impact de l’hyperhydratation sur l’équilibre hydrique, les fonctions physiologiques et la performance en endurance ou la capacité d’endurance;
  • Les effets de boire selon les signaux de la soif l’équilibre hydrique, les fonctions physiologiques et la performance en endurance ou la capacité d’endurance;
  • L’impact de l’hypohydratation sur la qualité musculaire;
  • L’influence de l’utilisation de différents instruments de mesure et de techniques d’analyses sur la concentration de sodium dans la sudation
  • Les facteurs influençant la mesure de la température corporelle à l’aide d’une sonde télémétrique.

  1. Performance d’ultra-endurance à vélo: impact des effets de boire selon sa soif vs. boire selon les recommandations actuelles.
  2. Adaptations aux effets aigus répétés de la déshydratation: Impact sur la performance physique, les fonctions cognitives, la régulation du volume plasmatique et les réponses endocrines, cardiovasculaires, thermorégulatrices et subjectives en milieu chaud chez des militaires ou civils canadiens.
  3. Boire en se fiant uniquement à sa perception de la soif vs. boire de façon ad libitum : est-ce que ces différentes stratégies d’hydratation peuvent conduire à des variations  importantes de volume de liquide ingéré lors d’un exercice prolongé à vélo.
