The Division of Thoracic Surgery is staffed by two surgeons, Dr. Marco Sirois (interests: thoracoscopy, hyperhidrosis surgery, trauma) and Dr. Vincent Echavé (interests: esophagal surgery, mesothelioma, postdoctoral teaching, humanitarian action (Doctors Without Borders).
Thoracic surgery at the Centre hospitalier universitaire de Sherbrooke (CHUS) covers a wide range of pathologies, including lung cancer, mesothelioma, esophageal cancer, benign lung pathologies, pneumothorax, mediastinal pathologies, and trauma. We perform different types of interventions such as lobectomy, pneumonectomy, mediastinoscopy, thoracoscopy (VATS), thymectomy, esophagectomy, sympathectomy for hyperhidrosis, chest wall resection, and surgery for pectus excavatum.
The areas covered by the Division of Thoracic Surgery are: Eastern Townships, Centre-du-Québec (Drummondville, Arthabaska), Granby, and Cowansville.
We welcome foreign residents interested in doing a thoracic surgery rotation at the Université de Sherbrooke’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.
