Faculty members and residents of the Department of Surgery offer a large range of surgical care thanks to state-of-the-art facilities. Specialized and subspecialized care is provided to the population of the Eastern Townships, Centre-du-Québec region and some parts of the Montérégie region since the implementation of the Réseaux universitaires intégrés de santé [Integrated University Health Networks]. Hence, about one million people can rely upon our subspecialized services.
The Department of Surgery’s activities are held at the two hospitals that constitute the Centre hospitalier universitaire de Sherbrooke (CHUS).
The CHUS has 19 rooms for major surgeries (9 at Fleurimont Hospital and 10 at Hôtel-Dieu) and 6 rooms for minor surgeries.
