The body of work conducted by Professor Fortin’s team so far paints a worrisome portrait of primary care physician’s practices with a high proportion of patients presenting multiple chronic conditions. This phenomenon leads to serious consequences for patients and their families. Yet, epidemiological research on this issue is still in its early stages.
Many descriptive studies were conducted by Professor Fortin’s team. What is less known is the evolution of the condition over time and which factors are associated with it. A clear understanding of the phenomenon is an essential step prior to proposing interventions.
