Become familiar with the basic concept of energy, its uses, and its impacts on the environment; develop an understanding of how energy is generated and used and how this relates to contemporary climate change problems; gain knowledge of the potentials and limitations of both non-renewable and renewable energy sources.

Contenu

Concepts of energy and power and their units; energy sources, fossil fuels, their environmental impacts, and resource consumption; basics of heat transfer, energy conversion, and its efficiency according to thermodynamics (including the concepts of temperature, specific and latent heat, the first and second law of thermodynamics, heat engines, and thermal systems).
