Description : Osteoarthritis (OA), including post-traumatic OA (PTOA), is the most common disability in Canada, causing chronic pain in millions of Canadians. Despite this, current pain management strategies for this disease are largely ineffective. Although mechanisms underlying joint pathology in OA are becoming better understood, whether there are upstream or central mechanisms that could potentially contribute to pain, especially in PTOA, remains unclear.
