Targeted clientele
The healthcare professionals who wish to acquire skills in facilitating the application of information technologies in the exercise of their functions.
The IS professionals who wish to acquire skills to understand the clinical needs of the health care sector and include them in the development of applications.
Objectives
Allow students to :
- Understand and manage every aspect of data (entry, structure, processing, storage, treatment, release) using tools specially designed for the healthcare field;
- Assess and provide security for clinical data;
- Be aware of the ethical issues linked with the computerization of the healthcare system;
- Conceptualize specialized computer applications;
- Understand computer systems applied to healthcare.
Skills
By the end of the program, students will be able to :
- Work with the different aspects of data (entry, processing, storage, treatment, release), new technologies and their applications in the healthcare field;
- Assess new information technology and advances in communication, as they relate to the specifics of the healthcare system;
- Understand the ethical issues pertaining to the computerization of the healthcare system and become an agent of change in their workplace.
Admission
General Requirements
General admission requirements for graduate programs of the Université de Sherbrooke. (see Règlement des études, in French only)
Specific Requirements
The applicant must have an undergraduate degree in a field of study related to healthcare or, for some applicants, have education and work experience judged equivalent by the admissions committee.
Have at least two years of experience working in the field of healthcare.

Regular part-time
Duration: 4 semesters - 16 months (including a 2-month break during summer)

Course of Study
The microprogramme consists of eight courses for a total of thirteen credits. Courses ISA102, ISA300 must be taken consecutively and are prerequisites for the other courses. The other five courses can be taken simultaneously or consecutively.
